Monthly Event Calendar : October 2025

As autumn paints Seoul in hues of red and gold, the city comes alive with a plethora of cultural festivals and events. October is the most beautiful month in Korea, and throughout Seoul, festivals are held in every corner of the city. This year is especially festive because Chuseok, one of Korea’s biggest traditional holidays, falls on October 3, giving a long holiday from October 3 to October 9. From traditional performances to contemporary art, October offers a rich tapestry of experiences. Among the many celebrations across Seoul, here is a selection of representative festivals that foreign visitors will especially enjoy. If you are visiting Seoul this October, these are the events you shouldn’t miss.

 

K-Royal Culture Festival (궁중문화축전)

  • Dates: October 8–12, 2025
  • Locations: Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung, Gyeonghuigung, Jongmyo Shrine
  • Highlights: Experience the grandeur of Korea’s royal heritage through reenactments, traditional performances, and immersive cultural programs. Notable events include the Moonlight Lotus Show at Changgyeonggung and the Awakening the Morning Palace experience at Gyeongbokgung.

 

Korean Thanksgiving Day Festival (서울남산골추석축제)

  • Dates: October 5–7, 2025
  • Location: Namsangol Hanok Village
  • Highlights: Celebrate Chuseok in a traditional way with folk performances, cultural workshops, and hands-on experiences such as making rice cakes and trying traditional games. Visitors can also enjoy special holiday-themed performances in the hanok setting.

 

Seoul Light Hangang Bitseom Festival (한강빛섬축제)

  • Dates: October 3–12, 2025
  • Location: Ttukseom Hangang Park
  • Highlights: Immerse yourself in a spectacular display of laser art installations along the Han River. The festival features large-scale light sculptures, a 5 km light run, and engaging light lectures under the theme “Spectra of Light.”

 

Seoul Street Arts Festival (서울거리예술축제)

  • Dates: October 6–8, 2025
  • Location: Seoul Plaza and nearby downtown areas
  • Highlights: The city transforms into an open stage with street theater, circus acts, parades, and interactive performances. This festival is known for its dynamic creativity and international participation.

 

Seoul Autumn Festa (서울어텀페스타)

  • Dates: October 4–12, 2025
  • Location: Main streets and cultural hubs across Seoul (including Myeongdong, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and Hongdae)
  • Highlights: A citywide celebration of K-culture, featuring K-pop concerts, fashion shows, street parades, and cultural performances. This is one of the most anticipated annual festivals for both locals and international visitors.

 

Seoul Car-Free Jamsugyo Walking Festival (서울차없는 잠수교 뚜벅뚜벅축제)

  • Dates: September 28 – November 28, 2025 (weekends only)
  • Location: Jamsugyo Bridge, Han River
  • Highlights: Stroll freely on Jamsugyo Bridge without traffic. The festival offers cultural performances, food stalls, and riverside activities every weekend, creating a festive pedestrian-friendly atmosphere.

 

Zandari Festa (잔다리페스타)

  • Dates: October 17–19, 2025
  • Location: Hongdae
  • Highlights: Seoul’s representative indie music festival, featuring live performances from local and international musicians. Clubs and small venues in Hongdae come alive with diverse genres and energetic vibes.

 

Seoul Silver Grass Festival (서울억새축제)

  • Dates: October 18–24, 2025
  • Location: Haneul Park
  • Highlights: Witness the breathtaking sight of silver grass in full bloom at this annual festival. Enjoy evening performances, cultural programs, and the serene beauty of the vast pampas grass fields.

 

Itaewon Global Village Festival (이태원지구촌축제)

  • Dates: October 11–12, 2025
  • Location: Itaewon
  • Highlights: Celebrate the rich tapestry of global cultures through parades, international food exhibitions, and live performances. This festival fosters cultural exchange and a vibrant community spirit in the heart of Seoul.

 

Seoul International Garden Show

  • Dates: May 22 – October 20, 2025
  • Location: Seoul Grand Park
  • Highlights: Explore a diverse range of garden designs and horticultural exhibits. The show features themed gardens, floral displays, and interactive workshops, celebrating the beauty of nature and sustainable gardening practices.
